Its goal is to promote interdisciplinary research and bridge academic studies with the digital games industry. The Institute brings together experts from various departments of the Ionian University, as well as collaborators from universities in Greece and abroad, creating a dynamic research community. Its areas of interest include game design and development, artificial intelligence, interactive storytelling, music and sound composition, augmented and virtual reality, and game applications in education, culture, and social innovation.

    IGR seeks to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and innovation by supporting the creation of new educational and research programs, as well as organizing activities, conferences, and events that strengthen cooperation between the academic community and industry. At the same time, it places emphasis on the development of serious games, enhancing their use in fields such as education, health, and cultural heritage. Through its initiatives, IGR aspires to become an internationally recognized hub for research and innovation in the field of games, strengthening the position of the Ionian University as a pioneer in digital arts and technologies.
