    Educational Visit of SAEK Corfu School to the Department of Audio & Visual Arts and Briefing by AVARTS Game Hub Team

    An educational visit of trainees from the department “Applied Informatics Technician” (Multimedia/Web Designer-Developer/Video Games) of SAEK School (formerly Public IEK) Corfu took place on Wednesday 27/11/2024 at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts.

    The trainees were welcomed at the Department facilities by Assistant Professor Vasilis Komianos, who presented the Department curriculum and the various scientific and artistic activities focusing on its technological side and entertainment applications.

    Students of the Department then took the floor presenting the process of game design and development from idea conception, creation of visual content, design of game mechanics, implementation of mechanics as logical models and software systems, the playtesting phase, and final presentation of the game. Presentations were made through case-study games which are results of their coursework in game design and development (digital and board games).

      Type: board game of historical interest

    • Sagrado: the Escape
      Fictional board game using historical elements
      Creator: Andreas Salvanos
    • Visconti Conti e la Bomba
      Board game with digital mechanics
      Creator: Evangelia Drosoula Mastroyianni

    The presentations were followed by rich discussion focusing on design, development, and marketing of the products. Attendees stressed the need for a denser communication network in the local player and creator community and expressed interest in participating in joint actions.

    The games that were presented were implemented within the courses: Interactive Audiovisual Systems, Multimedia and Gamification, Video Game Design & Development, taught by Barbara Garneli, Emmanouil Rovithis, Vasilis Komianos, Ioannis Deligiannis, and Aggelos Floros.
