The Department of Audio Visual Arts “went to Kalamata”

The Department of Sound and Image Arts of the Ionian University participated actively in the 10th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival with three innovative educational workshops that highlighted art, technology, and creativity. The event, which served as a meeting point for artists, academics, and professionals, hosted workshops featuring distinguished professors from the Department.

  1. Crafting True Narratives: Mastering the Documentary
    An intensive six-day seminar guided participants from the conception of an idea to the completion of a documentary film. The program included practical workshops and theoretical lessons on directing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound design, and editing. Participants worked in groups to create short documentaries, which were screened for the public at the end of the workshop.

  1. Game Design and Creation Workshop
    A three-day workshop introduced participants of all ages to the exciting world of game design in the Metaverse. Participants created their own games, working from concept and character design through to implementation of basic mechanics and creation of graphics and sound.

  1. Filmmaking with Artificial Intelligence
    A four-day program dedicated to the new possibilities of artificial intelligence in film production. Participants trained in the use of AI tools to create short films and explored the potential of this technology in the artistic and professional domain.

The participation of the Department of Sound and Image Arts in these workshops confirmed its pioneering role in education and the promotion of art and technology.
The person responsible for the Student Educational Program of the festival and coordinator of the mission was Dr. Iakovos Panagopoulos, Assistant Professor.
